WELCOME ABOARD NEW CONCORDIA EAGLE!
Fall 2008 Week of Welcome occurs from Saturday, August 23rd - Wednesday, August 27th.
"Set Your Scene" early on in your first year here at Concordia University Irvine!
The faculty and staff at Concordia University Irvine are very eager to welcome you to CUI. We are excited that you have chosen Concordia University for your educational experience. Whether you are a new freshman or a transfer student, you will soon be balancing a schedule that includes classes, homework, and social activities. The transition from high school or from a community college to a four-year university is not always an easy one.
The Office of First-Year Experience Programs & Initiatives focuses on providing you a welcoming and supportive environment that prepares you with valuable resources that are critical in transitioning successfully here at Concordia University Irvine. Our office is available to help you navigate your first year and make CUI your new home!
To ease your anxiety and help prepare you to graduate successfully from CUI, we offer an orientation program, Week of Welcome (WOW), before fall semester begins. During WOW, you will meet your Peer Advising Leader (PAL) and interact with your classmates, some of whom you will develop life-lasting friendships with. Your PAL serves as your first peer resource on campus as they are current students who are eager to help you transition comfortably at CUI. Our Office also hosts our Spring New Student & Transfer Orientation where new students are able to meet their PAL(s) and a variety of campus resources to learn how to be successful here.
Our office also offers a 2-unit Freshman Seminar course that all freshmen are required to take in the fall. INT 100: Freshman Seminar is a 10-week course designed to provide freshmen the opportunity to develop skills necessary to experience success in a university setting. Freshmen will engage in discussions with faculty and staff about topics such as civility, religious diversity, social consciousness, and academic success. It is the goal of the course to develop our students into "wise, honorable, and cultivated" citizens.
