Founding Visionary: Rev. Dr. Charles Manske, 1932-2015
The Rev. Dr. Charles Manse, Concordia University's founding president, died on July 4, after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Please remember in your prayers his wife Barb and members of their extended family as they mourn Chuck's loss.
Today, all of us who study, teach and serve at Concordia University Irvine are indebted to Dr. Manske's vision, and we honor that vision as we continue to provide excellent academic programs and prepare graduates who live out the Great Commission.
A memorial service for Dr. Manske will be help on Saturday, July 18, at 11:00 am in the CU Center at Concordia with a luncheon following the service. All are invited to attend. Click here to read more about the life and legacy of Dr. Manske.
Concordia University Receives Story Ready Designation
We're proud to announce that Concordia University Irvine has been designated a StormReady University, making us the second in Orange County. For more information about the StormReady designation, please visit www.nws.noaa.gov/stormready.
Music Ensemble Auditions
The Music Department holds open auditions during CU S.O.A.R. and the first days of the semester:
- Choir and Handbells: Students sign up for ensemble placement auditions in the CU Center lobby when they arrive on campus. These auditions take place during CU S.O.A.R.
- Band/Orchestra/Jazz: Please email [email protected] and let us know your instrument (open rehearsals will be held during the first week of classes for all who are interested)
- Worship Band: Please email [email protected] and let us know your instrument (auditions are held the weekend after the first week of classes)
- Other inquiries about music participation: Please send your questions to [email protected]
Music ensembles at Concordia keep active performance schedules on and off campus (including tours such as Donne di Canto and Men's Chorus to Austria in May 2016). We welcome all students with high school performance experience. Non-music majors comprise the majority of our ensembles. Please consider participating!
